Wexford band , formally known as The Carty Sisters have announced that the group has officially changed its name to Maċa . The official launch was held in The Sky in the Ground on the 2nd of March. The group explained that the new name would reflect the evolving style and passion of the band, adding, " Maċa, one of three sisters, was a strong female character in Irish history and we can only hope to be as strong and passionate about our art form" -Saoirse.
With a distinctive edge the girls are paving a formidable path for themselves in the music scene . Performing in such venues as The Olympia , The mermaid theatre, The Watergate and abroad. The girls also founds themselves sharing the stage with artists such as Jonny Logan , Bagatelle and Kíla.
Cogar is the debut release by The Carty Sisters, from County Wexford. The sisters, Saoirse (17), Naoise (15) and Ciara (12), all share a passion for their native language and spend many of their summers in the Gaeltacht areas around Ireland, embracing the country’s native language and culture.
